FAQs

When are shop updates?

Shop updates are normally on the first of every month at 8pm EST!

When do you ship out yarn?

Most yarn is dyed to order unless specified that the yarn is ready to ship. Since I am a one-woman show most yarn can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks to be prepared, dyed, wound, and packaged. Please remember to give yourself some time to allow for me to dye your skein before it is shipped out. For ready to ship yarn I try my best to get it to the post office in three days however depending on my schedule it may take a little longer.

How do I care for my hand dyed yarn?

Most of our hand dyed yarns are made of a superwash blend however that does not mean they will not felt if exposed to heat or agitation. To properly care for your yarn and finished project hand washing is always recommended in cold water. Laying your project flat to dry will also help in the care of your project and yarn.

Do you accept custom orders?

If time allows I will accept custom orders at my discretion. Some months have heavier orders than others which can effect the amount of time I have to complete custom orders.  Custom orders are normally accepted for any of our past colorways that may not be available in the shop currently. Please reach out to me to discuss if I am available to accept custom colorways. Payment will be needed prior to me dyeing and completing your custom colorway.

How do I prevent my yarn colors from bleeding?

Color bleeding during the first wash is very common for hand dyed yarn. It is even more common in darker and more saturated colors such as reds. Remember that color bleeding does not mean there is anything wrong with the yarn, it is due to a difference in pH from the water the yarn was dyed in by the dyer versus the water it was rinsed in by the customer. It is recommend that you give each skein of yarn a rinse in water if you plan to use more than one colorway in the same project. For self-striping yarns we recommend adding a color catcher sheet to your finished project during the handwashing process. For blocking your finished projects with more than one colorway the pin-and-spritz method is recommended.

Are your yarns allergy-friendly? Cruelty free?

All of our yarn is dyed in a pet-friendly home. We do have one cat who does not enter the dyeing space however he does wander through the winding and packaging room.  We do not recommend our yarn to those with severe cat allergies. Our yarns are dyed with acid-based dye. Our yarn supplier uses South American Merino in order to avoid the muesling issues.

Can you save me a skein?

Unfortunately I am not able to set skeins aside for private orders from upcoming updates. If you are looking to grab a certain colorway or mystery skein slot I definitely suggest you try to be at the shop right as the update goes live because some colorways and bases go fast!

What if I want to return my yarn?

At this time we do not accept returns. Each skein is inspected during the dyeing and packaging process. We do not accept returns for discrepancies in color. As with all hand dyed yarn it is impossible to get every skein exact and there can be huge variations even within the same dyelot. For preordered yarns or highly speckled colorways your skein may have slight differences from the sample dyelot. We do not accept returns or offer refunds on skeins that have been caked up and/or knit with. If you are unhappy with your order please review the above and reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

I never received my package, what do I do?

If your yarn has been listed as shipped and is past the arrival date you have several options. Check the USPS tracking and see the last place it was scanned. If it says it was delivered, contact your local post office and see if it was mismarked. If it is still listed in-transit, give it about 4-6 more days. Typically most orders that are delayed show up in that time frame. Unfortunately we are unable to offer replacement skeins for packages that go missing.
